Shooting Deaths

  • Note that this graph only takes V5OC, V6OC, V7OC, V6 Canon, V7 Canon, and the current results of V8 Canon into account and may not be 100% accurate - but it does show how heavily shooting deaths eclipse every other method.

By far the most popular method of death in [BR] Roleplay rounds. Shooting deaths are also viewed by the comm at large as being 'boring' deaths because the cause of death is so common, and people strive to kill off characters in other ways, although by mid- and endgame this can be difficult to do because so many characters are carrying around guns. However, shooting deaths can be very interesting and varied in their own right. A death by gunshot can be instantaneous or take hours. Depending on the location of the wound, a number of scenarios can take place.

A gunshot causes laceration and crushing wounds. A bullet that stays in the body is dangerous because it transfers all its kinetic energy to the tissue in the body; a bullet that exits the body is dangerous because the exit wound tends to be much bigger than the entrance wound and there's a good chance the victim will bleed to death. o/

Obviously, the worst place to get shot is the head, because so much damage to the brain is usually fatal (although this isn't always the case - but in a BR situation the character would pretty much be a goner even if they didn't die right away). Gunshots to the abdomen are especially dangerous because there are so many vital organs within a relatively small area; they can also be extremely painful and cause the victim to linger for hours before dying. The upper arms and thighs carry large arteries that, if punctured, can cause a person to bleed to death within minutes. Although not usually fatal, even a shot to the hand or foot could cause a lot of blood loss or lead to a dangerous infection.

Basically, being shot = bad.

Notable Shooting Deaths

Stabbing Deaths

Usually the second most common cause of death. Being stabbed comes with all the same dangers of being shot, only with the added gift of it generally being a slower and more horrifying experience. The exception to this is getting your throat slit, which is usually a quick death.

Notable Stabbing Deaths

Asphyxiation

This can be due to choking, strangulation, smothering or drowning. A person without air will lose consciousness within a minute or two. Howeverrrr, their heart will continue to beat for another few minutes even without oxygen. And after that, the brain is still viable for several minutes afterward, making resuscitation possible. BUT since this is Battle Royale, that is something highly unlikely - I think only one person's ever been given CPR in this roleplay, and that was back in V5OC. o/

Notable Deaths by Asphyxiation

  • Matsuo Minami and Yoko Shimzuki fought one another over gaining back weapons. After a bit of punching and kicking Yoko finally gained the upper hand by grabbing a belt and strangling him with it.
  • Kinuka Asano had her face submerged in a puddle after a rainstorm and was drowned by Miyuki Ishida.

Clubbing/Blunt Trauma

Getting hit with stuff. Or falling off stuff. This can lead to severe brain damage, external and internal bleeding, broken bones (including a broken back or neck), and a variety of other gross injuries. Like stabbing and shooting, characters can pass away immediately or linger for a while if killed by this method.

Notable Deaths by Blunt Trauma/Clubbing

Electrocution or Burning

Death by fire is gross. D: And excruciatingly painful. But on the bright side (lulz), it probably doesn't last very long for the victim.

Death by electrocution is pretty much instantaneous - an electric current travels through the body via the hand or foot or whatever came into contact with the electricity. If a person grabbed onto an electric current with one hand, the current would pass through their body (and heart) and out through their feet. If they grabbed it with both hands, the current would travel up one arm, through the chest (and heart), and out the other arm. If a person got electrocuted through their foot or something, the current would travel up their body, back down and... yeah, you get the picture. Either way, the person's heart would be severely damaged, leading to a quick, probably painless death.

Notable Deaths by Electrocution or Fire

  • Wen-Hai Nomura, who was electrocuted by a live rail. He was revived by Yuki Kichiro, but never regained consciousness and died (again) several minutes later.
  • Shinichi Mutou and Shina Kane: both died from a combination of burns and smoke inhalation after being hit by a petrol bomb.
  • Kentaro Fukushima, shocked to death by an electric fence. He subsequently exploded after the petrol bomb he was carrying was lit by his burning clothes. Double bad luck.

Suicide

When the pressure of the game becomes too much, some students choose to opt out on their own terms.

Notable Suicides

Accidental

Just as it says. An accidental death could be due to human error or simply bad luck or timing.

Notable Accidental Deaths

  • Kaede Arakaki met her death after slipping and falling onto her own weapon.
  • Seikou Ishida, previously injured in an explosion, later tripped and managed to puncture his lung with one of his broken ribs.

Collar Explosions

Whether induced on purpose or accidentally caused by entering a Danger Zone, the collars remain a constant and lethal threat to the students in the Program.

Notable Collar Explosions

  • Shiori Nagashima pushed an injured Sora Amachi into a danger zone via shopping trolley.
  • Terue Anami sacrificed her own life in order to take out Ichi Kiyoshi, a threat to her group's escape plans, by kicking the boy down just as the danger zone went into effect.

Miscellaneous Deaths

Anything that doesn't fit into one of the other categories, such as Keizou-ing, gutting/disembowelment, impalement, decapitation, or any other creative and not-seen-before deaths.
