These are probably the most important rules to get
your head around, as people who break them slow the RPG down and can
ruin it for others.
Voting Rules 1. When making a kill, you should end the post with you about to kill. ie, the last sentence should be something like: "Atsuko spun around and looked the boy right in the eyes before pulling the trigger..." After this, please leave an OOC saying “Vote time” and what the time is & your time zone (Include difference from GMT when possible). You can try to kill more than one person at once, but keep in mind that the more people you try to kill, the less likely it will probably be you'll kill them all. Here are the rules about multiple kills. You are allowed to attempt on a maximum of 1 person by hand to hand combat. There are a few other
examples (such as throwing a javelin, or a one-shot gun that takes ages to reload) but it's only really things where it's obvious that you'd only be able to try and kill one person at a time. You are only allowed to attempt on a maximum of 3 people if you have a rapid firing gun (machine gun, yo) poison (under the right circumstances) or something explosive. 2. A vote will then start. This will mean the members of the community will vote on whether they think you have succeeded in your kill (or killings). People involved in the vote can’t vote (ie those killing or being killed) but bystanders can. It is important you know what to vote on. Things you should take into account: How well each person roleplayed. This is most important and should definitely be the biggest factor in votes… how descriptive they were, how believable their character was, how well they wrote. If a character has a wound-- but let me clarify that. A PC is only allowed two wounds, then the next attempt on them MUST be either a FAIL or KILL. ~ Things you should never vote for, under no account. (If you vote based on these, you will be required to revote) Who has what weapon, where people are standing etc. This is not a
roleplay based on the physical aspect. This is based on roleplay. Your character is friends with one of the characters If you feel like there should be more kills Tactical voting Revenge against someone who voted against you Because you flipped a coin etc. (no one will be happy if votes like this kill them off) Based on what other people have voted. When casting your vote, leave the comment as a new comment (not in reply to another comment) with your vote in the title of the comment. Your options are KILL (You think the attacker is better) FAIL (You think the victim is better) or WOUND (It was too close to call) These are the only 3 options to chose from (ie. you don't get to chose the severity of the wound). 3. 24 hours after the vote started, it will stop. Once it is stopped, the votes will be tallied. First the number of KILL votes will be counted. Then the FAIL and WOUND votes will be tallied up together. If the number of KILL votes beats them out, the character is dead. If FAIL and WOUND votes override the KILL vote, then they will be counted against each other and whichever has more will win out. Here is an example. KILL- 4 The character survives, but since there are more WOUND votes than FAIL votes, they survive with a wound. In case of a tie (in either case), the result is WOUND. 4. A moderator will post the results once 24 hours are up. 5. If the attempt failed, the attacker can't post for 24 hours or until the victim has posted (or 1 of the victims in a case of multiple attacks) This means that a survivor of an attack will have time to react by running away, striking back etc. 6. If the attempt succeeds, then the attacker may continue as normal. The person who was killed is allowed to make a death post, but only one post is allowed. Once the result has been announced, if the attacker is successful, they are expected to mention things like whether they take the weapons or not. 7. Characters involved in a vote (whether they like it or not) may not post, and other characters may not interact with them, apart from watching the attack if you wish. If you have been attacked, you may post what has happened up until the vote, but there is no getting out of it (i.e. "Mamoru saw Atsuko coming and jumped out of the way before she could shoot) because once you’re in a vote you can’t get out of it until the result has been announced! It’s slightly unfair, but it’s battle royale! 8. If someone has left an OOC comment saying that they’re going away for a day or two, this doesn’t make them immune to voting as that would be unfair on active members. If you’re going away for a few days, be aware that your character may be dead when you get back. BE AWARE, however, that attempting a kill on someone who's away might involve too much PC control. It's always a good idea to talk to people before attempting a kill. It's just polite. 9. You can forfeit a vote if you want. If the attacker forfeits, all results will be “FAIL”. If a victim forfeits, then the result for that victim will be “KILL”. In multiple killings, one victim forfeiting doesn’t affect the other victims. 10. An attacker isn’t allowed to pull out of the vote and re-write their post as if they never made the attack, unless they get permission from all victims to do so. This is so if an attacker is loosing a vote, they can’t forfeit without the victims having a chance to attack back. A note on death/wound posts: If your character receives a wound or is killed by a vote, then this must take place in your next post.
There are two other actions similar to killing a human player that you can use. Make sure you know these even if you don’t plan to use them. You’ll need to know how to vote. Fight to the death. (FTD for short) This is when you and another player are planning a fight to the death [you don’t say!] This means that only 1 character will survive. 1. First, you must obtain permission from the other player to fight to the death. Both players have to consent to this. 2. Both players must post up to the point at which the fight begins. Both should leave an OOC comment letting everyone know that there is a fight to the death. 3. Voting will start in comments to the second player to make their entry. Instead of Fail, Wound and Kill as voting options, you should vote for who you want to win, and a reason. There is no middle ground for these votes! Acceptable reasons for voting are the same as normal voting. 4. 24 hours later, a mod will comment with the result. If the result is a draw, then the last vote to be cast will be discarded. Unfair, yes, but unfortunately, that’s Battle Royale! This is different from the normal votes in that those are a WOUND when a tie, but since there is no WOUND in FTD's...yeah, this happens. 5. It is then up to the survivor to make the post with the actual fight in it, including the killing and what happens afterwards. The looser may make a death post as normal. Jumping in front of an attack. This could be in front of a bullet, getting in the way of a sword blow, or jumping into an existent hand-to-hand combat. This move is used to ‘intercept’ a PC vs. PC vote. 1. Before you think about doing this, your character must be near the vote you want to intercept. Near as in actually there. If you are running towards the fight at the start of your post (ie, you aren’t already right there) then you’ll need to make sure you sneak up, and don’t attract the attacker’s attention. Make sure this is convincing! (could save your life…) You must also be intercepting a vote in progress (ie, hasn’t ended yet) 2. End your post with intercepting the attack. 3. The current vote will end with no result. 4. A new vote will start, with the original attacker trying to kill whoever has intercepted the vote. The attacker gets no choice about this. 5. Voting will progress in the normal PC vs. PC way for 24 hours till the result is announced. 6. If the interceptor dies, then tough luck. So only use this when you really want to save another character! It might pay off… but it’s always a risk! 7. As an additional rule, you may not intercept a vote that has already been intercepted. Otherwise it could go on forever… 8. Also, be aware some attacks are too fast to jump in front off, or simply wouldn’t physically work as jumping in front of is concerned. Machine gun and Sniper Rifle attacks can’t be intercepted. Make sure you know these rules well. |
